3.9 Suspension of Studies
Some students may have to interrupt their studies for a variety of reasons.
These may include pregnancy, caring responsibilities, financial difficulties,
bereavement or other personal reasons. With the agreement of the
Programme Leader a suspension of study will normally be granted for a
maximum period of one year and re-entry should occur at the start of the
academic year or at a point comparable to when the student left the course
in the previous academic year. Students must complete a Break in Studies
form which must indicate the agreed return date and should be given to the
Programme Leader for authorisation by the Head of School.
Full time students are required to contact their LEA to inform them that they
are suspending their studies and to identify possible financial implications.
Tuition Fees will be charged on a pro rata basis.
Students undertaking University of Wales and EdExcel Awards should
consult the relevant regulations to determine the time limits within which an
award must be completed (including any period of suspension).
